Dental monitoring – making treatment easy
Would you believe us if we said having orthodontic treatment is easy? It’s true, and here at Share a Smile Orthodontics, we’ve just made it even easier with dental monitoring. Now you don’t even need to come into the clinic for your checkups. Instead, with the help of dental monitoring we can track the progress of your treatment from your smartphone.
What is dental monitoring?
Dental monitoring is the latest orthodontic software to take the industry by storm, and it’s easy to see why. Operated via an app on your smartphone that connects with software on our computer system, all you have to do is take weekly photos of your teeth, as per the instructions we give you, and send them through to us via the app.
Here in the clinic at Share A Smile, we will compare the photos you send us with your orthodontic treatment plan that we created at the start of your treatment journey. If your teeth are in the position they should be at each stage of your treatment, you won’t need to come in for a check-up.
What are the benefits of dental monitoring?
Dental monitoring really does make having orthodontic treatment easy. Instead of needing to fit in 6-8 weekly check up appointments in your diary, you can work, travel, play, go on school camps all while having orthodontic treatment.
Another benefit of orthodontic treatment is that our lines of communication are kept open. You can contact us at any time via the app, send us an extra photo if you have concerns about your treatment, or ask us a question. There’s no need to wait until your next appointment for this – just send it all via the dental monitoring app.
Setting up dental monitoring
Dental monitoring is as easy to set up as it is to use. All you need to do is follow three simple steps:
Step 1: Download the dental monitoring app to your smartphone. It’s compatible with all phones.
Step 2: Take weekly selfies of your teeth while having Invisalign treatment. The app will guide you through the process of taking the photo to ensure you get the angle just right so we can assess your teeth.
Step 3: Send the photos through to us, as well as any questions you may have. Our team will make sure your treatment is progressing as planned. If we have any concerns, we’ll let you know and book an appointment for you to come in for a check up at a time that suits you.
Who is dental monitoring for?
At Share A Smile, we are just using dental monitoring with Invisalign aligners at this stage but will keep our patients informed as we use the software across other treatments and appliances.
